If you are among the affected group, make sure to check the steps we listed below.

If the results you're given aren't specific to you—like if it won't find your phone or recall things you've told it to remember—you should reset the Voice Match settings. Similar to a Google Home connection problem is the case where guests who aren't on your Wi-Fi can't connect to the device. You can fix this by setting up Guest Mode on Google Home. If rebooting this way doesn’t fix the problem you’re having, unplug the power cord from the back of the Google Home and let it sit like that, unplugged, for 60 seconds.

Switch back to the Google Home app and tap Enable Pairing Mode. I'm Doug, My passion for tech started by fixing phones and computers for my friends and family. This is a method solely based on luck of course, but every bug fix needs a bug report and maybe it's your report that helps google quash the bugs for everyone. Since Google has already acknowledged the Bluetooth issue, it is fair to assume they might potentially push out an update to phase out this issue. The best way to counter this issue is to simply check the surface of the Google Nest Mini for any unintended dents or physical deformation.

Unpair and Pair the Bluetooth Device Again

So you can either get out of the shower, dripping wet, to deal with it, or you can let it keep playing and try to return to the right place later. Android Police catalogued the series of complaints and spotted Google's recent response. Google Nest Mini can be used as a Bluetooth speaker without WiFi, but the devices need to be paired initially with the Google Home app, which requires an internet connection.

Google Home smart devices are pretty smart most of the time, but that might not feel so true when it under-performs. Sometimes it's a Wi-Fi issue, a microphone that doesn’t hear you, speakers that don’t deliver clear sound, or connected devices that don’t communicate with the Google Home. You’d be forgiven if you didn’t know that Google Home speakers and smart displays double as Bluetooth speakers, but they do.

Updating your device can be the solution to solving this bug. Who knows – Google might push a fix that solves this issue and results in smooth playback. However, that second trick only works if you're using the Home as a speaker, not if you're streaming music from it to another Bluetooth speaker. Others have a similar problem, but the other way around. If they're streaming audio from their Google Home Minis to a bigger speaker, it cuts off randomly after a few minutes.

Google admits long-standing Bluetooth disconnect issue on Google Home speakers

Unless you have invested in the aforementioned Wi-Fi mesh setup, chances are that Google Home won’t work if it’s too far from the router. If your Google Mini is closer to the router without walls in between, you should go for the 5GHz option. However, if you can’t run separate two SSIDs, have in mind that most older devices work solely on the 2.4GHz band. Any other issue at this point should be directed toward Google. You can contact the Google Home support team to have them call you, or chat with a Google support specialist to instant message or email someone from the support team.

If you’re having trouble updating your speaker, just disconnect it from the power source, wait one minute and plug it back in. For example, if the app isn’t permitted to run in the background while the phone is locked, the speaker will keep on disconnecting. If a user wants to stream music to a Google Home speaker via Bluetooth, it allegedly cuts out and disconnects at a point between two and 15 minutes.

Locate the factory reset button near the power cord at the back of the speaker. "In the meantime, please continue to send feedback via voice command by saying 'Hey Google, send feedback', and use the keywords 'GHT3 Bluetooth IN keeps on disconnect'." Remove the Google Home speaker from the list of paired devices by tapping Forget this device. If you are, instead of Wi-Fi sharing, rely on Bluetooth, make sure to remove your iPhone from paired devices and add it again. Removing other pairings of active devices (paired speakers, PCs, etc.) can help too, reducing chances of possible conflicts.

An Android Police writer also experienced the connectivity issues first-hand. The next step is to remove the network and add the Google Home speaker back in the Google Home app. Once you add the device again and provide the network credentials, check the improvements. Hopefully, your Google Nest speaker or display won’t keep disconnecting afterward. I haven't used this long enough to see its battery impact, but I know it's been playing for over an hour without any drops. Sure, it's completely side-stepping the issue, and it won't work if your internet is down, but it's a temporary way to avoid the problem.

Basically, you switch on Airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth right after. However, if you did want to use a Home or Home Mini as a Bluetooth speaker, you'd be disappointed that it doesn't work with such a basic and important feature. Was ecstatic to find this article, as I have the same issue on all Google Home mini devices I connect to.
